our story

We are a family run business from Whangarei, owned and operated by Eugene and Kelly. Eugene is born and bred in Whangarei. He first started concreting with Barfoote Construction at the age of 16, completing concrete precast slabs and cow sheds around the Whangarei and Northland areas.
​One of his first ever projects was the rail bridge at the bottom of Bank St. The concreting journey then took him to the Gold Coast where he continued his career concreting high-rise apartments and hotels, pre-cast panels and industrial floors, using ride on trowel machines. From there, next stop was Adelaide, where he went on to concrete Adelaide’s largest train maintenance facility. Here, his role of Concrete supervisor consisted of running and managing the concrete and steel works throughout the project.
​The final stop in Australia was Perth and the beautiful Pilbara area, where they commenced a 3 year project for the FMG Rail works. This project included constructing 4 rail bridges to transport the iron ore. Here my role of Concrete supervisor consisted of all concrete and steel works with a huge influence in health and safety and work safe compliance.
After Australia, their journey brought them back to Northland. Here, in 2015 the start up of Evolution Concrete LTD began. Eugene and Kelly's passion and drive for excellent concrete solutions is evident in the way they perfect and deliver each job with great planning, great workmanship, great materials and great work-safe ethic.
